ANATOMY OF DANCE. International Scientific Conference within the V International Festival of Arts “Diaghilev P.S.”

We invite you to participate in the International Scientific Conference “Anatomy of Dance” on the 20-21 of November 2014 at the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music.

The Festival “Diaghilev P.S.” was founded in 2009, when the whole world celebrated the 100th anniversary of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes. Since then it has established itself in the Russian cultural events playbill, has been included in the calendar of the most important European festivals and has found his unique creative personality.

The program planned for 2014 comprises touring of Wayne McGregor | Random Dance company with ballet FAR and Shaolin monks in ballet Sutra by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. George Balanchine’s ballet Raymonda Variations performed by the students of the Vaganova Ballet Academy will be supplemented with the exhibition of the American Ballet Theatre Photographer Paul Kolnik. Instrumental concerts and opera will be performed on the major stages of Saint Petersburg. Full program of the Festival you can find here

A traditional part of the Festival is the International scientific conference, which is this year dedicated to the interdisciplinary researches of dance, choreography and body.

The conference program provides research in the following areas:

1. Boundaries and definitions of dance art
2 . Classical dance in the postcontemporary situation
3 . Dance as a subject of science
4 . Dance in the context of new media
5 . Creativity and the ways of its sharing
6. Body, corporeity, movement

Titles and abstracts of the future reports should be sent by September 10, 2014. The abstracts should contain 600 – 1200 characters. The text must be attached with brief information about the author and photo for publication in the booklet of the Festival.

The organizers provide:
1. All participants will be able to attend the Festival performances in accordance with the program:
– 19 November: FAR by Wayne McGregor
– 20 November: master class by Wayne McGregor
– 21 November: Sutra by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui
2 . Official invitation for visa if necessary
3. Accommodation in Hotel Corinthia – St. Petersburg from 19 till 21 November (2 nights). At your request Festival can book extra night for you in the same hotel with 50% off regular rate (2800 roubles)
