The program of the 2023 Festival will be completed with the Chinese the Xie Xin Dance Theatre (XDT). The production of the T.I.M.E., following the Indian performance, takes up the reflection on the impact of this phenomenon on people’s destinies. Created by Chinese choreographer Xie Xin, the T.I.M.E. ballet explores the interpenetration and play of memories and time. It is only after the passage of time, seemingly only halfway through, that we begin to realize that our memories are part of ourselves, shaping us. There is always someone in our memories who we are guilty to. We seem to let it go and live in harmony with ourselves, yet the time will come and the memories will erupt in us, sparking every tiny moment like an echo of time…
As it follows from the English T.I.M.E. title, the four letters create and reveal the emotional essence of this dance work: T stands for Temperature and Teleportation; I stands for the inner self, personally important moments and imagination; M refers to memory and reason, and E refers to energy and emotion.
Xie Xin’s artistic vision is centered on exploring the precise choreography language in which every possibility of movement is directed to convey emotions as accurately as possible.
The T.I.M.E. production was created by the Xie Xin Modern Dance Theater to the order of the Shanghai International Dance Center.
