On the 23rd of November an opening of the exhibition of paintings and graphics by Sergey Sudeykin took place in the St Petersburg KGallery. Since the October Revolution in Russia there has not been a single personal exhibition of this master of fantasy, burlesque and pastoral. His artworks are purchased for Western museums, but art collectors mostly hunt for his posters and sketches for ballets, operas and acts, demonstrating his inimitable style. Among his votaries were the prominent London collectors – the spouses Nina and Nikita Lobanov-Rostovsky, and an outstanding dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. Sudeikin’s works of these collections were presented by their current owner – the Museum of Theater and Music. The exhibition in KGallery put on display more than fifty of museum-quality artworks from private and public collections.
