Alexei Goribol’s Program “Poet’s Love”

Diaghilev P.S. Festival will open its XIV season on the stage of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg with an exquisite musical program thematically composed and prepared for “The Judgment of Paris. Birth of a Goddess” exhibition.  The heroines who inspired music director Alexei Goribol to create the program include Clara Schumann, Marlene Dietrich and Lyubov Orlova.

Terezín Quartet

The ballet program of the Festival will start on the historical stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre – the company of the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin will present the recent premiere of the “Terezín Quartet”: 4 one-act ballets to the music by Erwin Schulhof, Gideon Klein, Pavel Haas, and Hans Krasa.

WITHIN

The ballet program of the Festival will be continued by the WITHIN performance of the Indian Ballet Company of Aditi Mangaldas on the stage of the Baltic House Theater-Festival. Aditi Mangaldas Company is high-grade artists working in the style of the Indian classical Kathak dance.

Premiere of “Donna Tanya. 100 years of happiness” Documentary

The frames of the Festival will include the premiere of the “Donna Tanya” documentary. This is an exceptionally interesting project for the 100th anniversary of ballerina Tatiana Leskova. Tatiana Leskova is a ballerina, choreographer and professional teacher.

“The Judgment of Paris. Birth of a Goddess” exhibition

The Festival program will continue with the opening of “The Judgment of Paris. Birth of a Goddess” exhibition in the Sheremetev Palace jointly with the Museum of Theater and Musical Art. The project is dedicated to the actresses who shone on the Russian stage and became an object of adoration for the public, and a source of inspiration for creators – ballet masters, composers, writers, directors and artists. Belonging to everyone, they belonged to no one. Reflected in the mirror fragments of their roles, they did not coincide with any of them.

Dolgushin Time

The XIV “Diaghilev. P.S.” Festival will continue with the performance of the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theater – the “Dolgushin Time” on the main stage of the G.A. Tovstonogov BDT. The program is dedicated to the legacy of Nikita Dolgushin (1938-2012) – a Soviet and Russian ballet dancer, ballet master, choreographer, teacher, People’s Artist of the USSR.

T.I.M.E.

The program of the 2023 Festival will be completed with the Chinese the Xie Xin Dance Theatre (XDT). The production of the T.I.M.E., following the Indian performance, takes up the reflection on the impact of this phenomenon on people’s destinies. Created by Chinese choreographer Xie Xin, the T.I.M.E. ballet explores the interpenetration and play of memories and time.
